Over 7 million Americans now have dementia and this number is steadily growing. 1.4 million of those people have Lewy body dementia (LBD), a widespread, but lesser known disease than Alzheimer’s. Greater awareness of LBD is  urgently needed to lead to better diagnosis and treatment.

There is also pressing need for an unflinching look at dementia care. Caring for those with dementia can be overwhelming and isolating. Caregivers desperately need support, but friends and family often disappear.

With honesty, tenderness and black humor, Facing the Wind invites viewers into the lives of people with Lewy body dementia and their caregivers, revealing how a mutual support community can be an antidote to despair.
